The easy apple crumble recipe! Yum….. A timeless dish that will bring back memories of when Ma’ used to make it. Also, this dish has crunchy almonds and shredded coconut on top of a delicious apple base.
Ingredients
- BASE
- 5 apples (chopped and peeled, if you prefer)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot
- 2-3 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- TOP
- 1 cup chopped almonds
- 1 cup oats
- 1/3 cup almond flour
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp shredded coconut
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
Instructions
Base
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Grease your baking dish with coconut oil.
- In a large bowl add the chopped apples and mix in the arrowroot powder. Then add chia seeds, cinnamon and lemon juice and stir everything together.
- Place whole mixture in the oiled dish.
TOP
- Mix thoroughly in the almonds, oats, almond flour, maple syrup, cinnamon, sea salt and coconut oil in a separate bowl.
- Cover the base mixture (in the oiled dish) with the top mixture.
- I used a glass lid for baking this dish. Feel free to cover the dish with foil and poke a couple holes instead.
- Bake for 30 mins.
- After, uncover the apple crumble and bake for 10 more mins or till the topping gets a bit crispy.
