About Matthew Prescott
Matthew Prescott is an author and activist. He’s a somewhat decent photographer and sometimes a painter. He’s terrible at tennis, but trying to improve.
His debut book, Food Is the Solution: What to Eat to Save the World, was released in 2018 by Flatiron Books. Endorsed by Ellen Degeneres, Paul McCartney, Alice Waters and dozens more, it’s part cookbook, part manifesto — full of design, photography, narrative essays and recipes to help readers enjoy a more eco-friendly diet.
His writing has also appeared in FORTUNE, the Washington Post, Barron’s and others and his photographs have appeared in Food & Wine, Rolling Stone and more.
Over nearly two decades, Prescott’s food activism has helped lead to sweeping changes in the supply chains of hundreds of major food companies and impacted countless individuals’ diets. His work been covered extensively by the media: by CNN, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Boston Globe,and more. He was even once a guest on NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me.
He lives in Austin, Texas with his three cats.
